What Is An Independent Baptist Church?
On this page we will try to explain what constitues an Independent Baptist Church, and why we think that it is important. We hope this page will be helpful to you.
Again, if you have more questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Independent
By “Independent” we mean:
Baptist
The best way to describe a Baptist is to describe what a Baptist believes. This can be done with the following acrostic.
Church
A local church is a called-out assembly of Believers in Christ, who have been Scripturally baptized by immersion, and covenant together to follow Christ.
The local church is God’s agency for reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are delighted to have visitors in any of our services. We want you to feel like an honored guest. Here are a few common questions and answers about visiting Grace Baptist Church that will help you enjoy your first visit.
If you have any other questions, please contact us.
Absolutely not. In fact, several visitors said this was going to happen when they came, but we are happy to report that the roof is still standing strong! If you are still concerned about this happening, just call ahead to warn us so we can clear out the building before you enter!
This is probably the most common question. We want you to feel welcome. A specific attire is not required, and our members wear a variety of styles of clothing. We think it makes sense to wear nice, clean, modest clothing to church. As long as you do that you will not feel out of place.
Yes. We have Sunday school classes, a junior church time (ages 3 - 2nd grade), and Wednesday evening classes for each age group. Our adults have a special time with the Pastor in the main auditorium. A nursery is provided for children up to 2 years of age for every service.
Our services are what is commonly called “traditional.” The worship music primarily is great hymns of the faith as well as some choruses. We do have special music from members of the congregation on a weekly basis. The focus of all of our meetings is the Word of God. Generally, we will have several hymns, prayer, an offering, and then a message from the Bible. Our services are usually between 1 hour and 1 hour and fifteen minutes in length.
No, you sure don’t. We will give you a visitor’s card and ask you to drop it in the offering plate so we can have a record of your visit. You can rest assured that this information will only be used for our records and will not be passed on to any other people. Pastor will acknowledge your attendance in order to allow our people the opportunity to give you a warm welcome.
Yes, we do. But, don’t worry about giving money. Our members support our church in every regard. We’re happy to have you as a guest and do not expect you to give.
We are unashamedly Bible-Believing Baptists, and as such we are identified by what we believe.
Here we will list a few of the truths of God’s Word that we hold dear. To read our complete statement of faith, please click here.
We believe…
The Bible to be the inspired Word of God. It is upon the authority of God’s Word that we base our beliefs.
We believe that God is eternal, without beginning or end and reigns supreme over all creation.
(Psalm 90:2, Psalm 135:6)
We believe in the Trinity.
We believe man was created perfect and granted a free will to obey or disobey God.
We believe that man chose to disobey God and now must bear the penalty of sin which will ultimately lead to an eternity in Hell. (Romans 5:12, Revelation 21:8)
We believe that God sent His only Son to pay the penalty for sin and grant us eternal life. This was accomplished through His death, burial, and resurrection. (Romans 5:8, 6:23)
We believe that the gift of eternal life is free to all who will accept it by faith. It cannot be worked for. Once received, it cannot be taken away. (Ephesians 2:8-9, John 10:28-30)
We believe that all who have accepted this gift of salvation will enter into Heaven immediately after death or upon the rapture of the saints.
We believe that the rapture will take place at God’s appointed time prior to the Tribulation period.
We believe that the church is a local assembly of baptized believers, operating autonomously, with the deacons as helpers, the pastor as overseer, and Christ as its head. We do not affiliate ourselves or endorse any group, trend or philosophy which promotes the de-emphasizing of Biblical authority. Examples are, but are not limited to: the Ecumenical Movement, Neo-Orthodoxy, the modern tongues movement, or what may be termed a “seeker sensitive” approach to evangelism
