Day 2 of VBS

July 30th, 2008 by Pastor | No Comments | Filed in Children's Ministry, video

What a wonderful time we had last night for our second evening of BOOT Camp! God was gracious and brought 65 precious kids to us last night. What a privilege it is to teach these wonderful kids about the Lord Jesus Christ!

We are all excited to see what God will do for us tonight. As the song we sang last night says, “God Is Great!”

Here are two video clips: The first one is Private Meeh doing pushups for being a mess-up.

The second one is Private Where doing pushups because the boys answered more questions.

Our First Night of BOOT Camp!

July 29th, 2008 by Pastor | No Comments | Filed in Children's Ministry

Praise the Lord for a wonderful first night of Vacation Bible School. We had 56 precious children here to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and enjoy the good time. I am so thankful for all the ones who have put in so much work, and for those who are continuing to do so. If you are unable to help us this week at VBS, will you pray that God will strengthen us, that He will give us the words to say to these kids, and that His Holy Spirit would touch and change little hearts this week?

If you have nothing to do this evening, you might want to come by and see the opening exercises. It is worth the price of admission. Actually, it’s worth a lot more because the price of admission is free!

Many Thanks to the Academy of Arts Team!

Friday night we were blessed to host the Academy of Arts Drama Team from Taylors, SC. However, the young people who tour with the group are from Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Maine, Tennessee, & Louisiana. They presented “Creation, Evolution, and the Flood.” If you missed it, you missed a real blessing. The salvation message at the end of the presentation was wonderful!

I cannot say enough about the wonderful way they purported themselves. They are a great example of young people showing a servant’s heart and diligent work to “excel” for the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless the Academy of Arts, and Brother Chavers, you would have been pleased and “proud” of this team.

For more information about the Academy of Arts, visit their website.

Here are some pictures of the team:

A few families in our church received the double blessing of hosting some of these fine young people in their homes Friday night.

Congratulations to Steve King

July 11th, 2008 by Pastor | 1 Comment | Filed in Encouragement

Steve King, along with his daughter, own and operate ElkayMedia. They have recently won a prestigious national award for their work on a church history video.

Here is the excerpt from the Business News section of the “Northern Virginia Daily.”

ElkayMedia, a video production company in Edinburg, has received a 2008 Telly Award for its work in documenting the Hopewell Church of the Nazarene’s 50th anniversary. The half-hour video features interviews with former pastors, charter members and other parishioners, as well as dozens of old photographs. Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards honor outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as video and film productions.

They didn’t mention their names, but you can read all about them at their website:

Congratulations on an excellent job!

Shane Rice in Peru

July 10th, 2008 by Pastor | No Comments | Filed in Missions

I had the great privilege of speaking to Brother Shane Rice, our missionary in Peru, by “Skype” this afternoon. I was reminded of the great responsibility and joy that comes from partnering with others for the evangelism of the world.

The Rices to Peru

Brother Rice and his family will be in the States from September 2008 to February 2009 for a short furlough. Their sixth child is due to arrive on the 15th of November. They will be with us on Wednesday night, January 21st.

Have you prayed for the Rices lately?

Here is the link to their webpage: www.rices2peru.com

Why don’t you email them today to tell them that you are praying for them? Their email address is: shane2peru@gmail.com

God bless,
