How Do You Spend Your Time?
As the new year approaches, it might do us good to do a little inventory of how we spend our time. This video explains how much time the average person spends doing “things” every day.
Special Testimony Service Tonight
As the new year of 2010 approaches, we will be remembering God’s blessings to us in the past year. Tonight is our annual Candlelight Testimony Service. If you have never been a part of this service, you really need to be here. Because of this, our service will be just a little longer than a regular Wednesday night service, but it is well worth it.

John Foltz – A Good Man
One of the great privileges and honors of being a pastor is getting to know some of God’s choicest servants. It has been my great honor and privilege to pastor John & Helen Foltz the past several years. The Lord took Brother John home late last night after a long struggle.
They came to this church in 1972, after languishing in a church that did not preach the Gospel. They wanted to hear the truth, and Pastor Dorrin was preaching the truth down at Grace Baptist Church.
After salvation and baptism, they became a vital part of this assembly. Helen was my daughter’s Sunday School teacher when we first came – a service she rendered for many years until she needed to spend more time helping her husband, John.
John was a farmer. He loved being out in the field, taking care of those cows, and seeing that things were planted on time. After his stroke around five years ago, he was not able to farm, and I know this was a great heartache to him.
He was also our local weatherman here at the church. People of the church (myself included) would come up to him and ask him if the snow was really coming, whether it would rain, etc. He was right as often as the guys on TV, probably more often!
But, more importantly, John was the husband of Helen Foltz for over 56 years, a father who was a great role model of a man to his sons, and a beloved grandfather.
John was one of a few men who led their families to “stick to it” during some really hard times at Grace Baptist Church. I have heard more than one person tell me that the Sunday afternoon meals and get-togethers at the Foltz farm helped encourage the faithful to hang on. The Lord Jesus loves His Church, and I believe that when Brother John met His Savior, the words “well done” were ringing throughout Heaven.
I am thankful for the memories I have of Brother John, and I am grateful to my Lord for allowing me to know and love this wonderful man and his family.
1 Corinthians 15:50-58
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Where’s the line to see Jesus?
“Where’s the Line to See Jesus?”
(An Original Song)
Performed by father and daughter, Steve Haupt and Becky Kelley
Inspired by grandson, Spencer Reijgers
Recorded at Shock City Studios, Saint Louis, MO
Produced by Chris Loesch
Video by Robbie Haupt and Greg Haupt
The story behind the song, as told by Steve Haupt:
“While at the mall last year, my 4 year old grandson saw kids lined up excitedly to see Santa Claus. Having been taught as a toddler that Christmas is the holiday that Christians celebrate the birth of God’s son, with the innocence of a child, he asked his mom, “where’s the line to see Jesus”? If Christmas is Jesus’ birthday, why don’t we see Him more? As his grandpa, I was so happy that little Spencer understood the meaning of Christmas at such a tender age, and then the words for a song were jotted down in just a few minutes. The song was inspired by my grandson, and the message was inspired by my Savior. Out of the mouths of babes come profound truths that many adults can not understand. Hopefully Spencer’s observation and our song will cause people to reflect on the love of Jesus, and the certainty that one day we will all stand in line to see Jesus. Merry Christmas everyone.”
