Special Urgent Prayer Request

This message came to me by way of the Family Foundation of Virginia. This action would affect the Shenandoah Valley Crisis Pregnancy Center in Edinburg.

This afternoon, legislation in both the Senate and House that would unnecessarily burden Virginia’s pregnancy resource centers with regulations will be debated in subcommittees.

SB 188, patroned by Senator Ralph Northam (D-6, Norfolk) and HB 452, patroned by Delegate Charniele Herring (D-46, Alexandria) are quite simply intended to paint PRCs as unsafe for women.  The bill would require these facilities to put a sign on their door that essentially says they are not health care facilities and don’t provide abortions or contraception and would require PRCs to register with the state.  They might as well be asking them to put a sign in the door with directions to the nearest Planned Parenthood unregulated abortion center.

This legislation was introduced at the behest of NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia.  Last week they released a “study” of PRCs in Virginia and charged them with such atrocities as referring to the unborn child as a “baby” and not having medical staff on hand to oversee the use of over-the-counter pregnancy tests.

Well, unfortunately we have some news to share with you today. When we first began to work with the church in Roma I sat down with the pastor and we discussed a wide variety of issues, as I wanted to be sure we were in agreement before making this decision. We spoke, and it seemed like in the vast majority (all the important doctrinal issues) we were in agreement. However, in the process of time it has become evident that we were not as much in agreement as I once supposed, and in fact some areas where we are in agreement on paper we are in disagreement in practice. Last night during the mid-week service a particular event took place which resulted in these issues coming to a head. We did not take any action last night, but I did consult with our missions direct and sending pastor today before contacting the pastor in Roma and requesting time to sit down and talk with him. In the course of our conversation we were unable to come to an accord regarding these differences, and as a result we have decided that it would be best if we cease our work with this particular church. We still love the people of the church and it truly burdens us to have to walk away. However, as we do not want to be seen as trying to divide the church or steal another man’s sheep, that is exactly what we must do. For us to stay would only cause more problems as these issues will continue to cause friction between the pastor and I.

Proverbs 14:34
“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”

Several preacher friends and fellow pastors emailed me and posted on FB what a glorious blessing it was that Scott Brown was elected in Massachusetts. Phrases like “glory to God” “Hallelujah” “Praise the Lord” “Perhaps it’s not too late for revival in our country” were the content of these posts and messages.

On Wednesday night, in our church service, I mentioned that I was not upset about the outcome of the election in the People’s Republic of Taxachusetts. I lived there and voted against Ted Kennedy once and Barney Frank twice.

Having said that, the verse at the beginning of this note comes to mind. “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” Is sin worse when Democrats commit it? Is righteousness equal to voting “no” on “Obamacare?”

Scott Brown is a remarkable story. He worked hard to get where he is. This appeals to the American in me. I love this kind of story. I will shed no tears for anyone of the Massachusetts political machine which goes down in defeat, either.

This song was written and sung by a friend from Syracuse, NY. His name is Bob Puffer, and one day he quit his job to sing and preach full time for the Lord. Everyone thought he was crazy. Just click on the arrow below to hear it.

God is good!

God is good!As a pastor who believes God’s Word completely, I should NOT be surprised by the blessings of God! And, yet, I was amazed again yesterday at the goodness of God shown in His faithful people yesterday.

The offering that we raised for our missionaries in Haiti, Art & Becky Spalding, surpassed everything that I would have imagined. I know the LORD is pleased by the giving yesterday, and I pray that God will continue to bless His children as they follow Him by faith!

It is a privilege to pastor a people such as this!
