Dear Supporting Pastors;
What a joy to be able to share with you a couple of God’s blessings upon our ministry since we last wrote.

Synopsis:

1).  23 respond to our Labor Day service. 2).  Three souls come to salvation in Christ.

New Evangelistic Out Reach:

As we shared with you last time we had planed a special service for Labor Day in which we invited the 37 workers from our local town council to attend.  All responded to our invitation affirming that they would come but on the day only 23 turned up, but what a blessing.  Most of these people had never been in a Baptist church before and it was probably the first time that many had heard a clear presentation of the gospel.  One lady actually cried as the message was being preached.  Despite this none responded to the invitation at the end but one lady did ask if she might start attending our services.  All of those that came were given one of the Beams bibles that they kindly donated to our ministry.  What a blessing to have a support ministry like Beams to provide us with this material for the gospel.  Pray with us that this seed sown might bring forth much fruit in the will of God.

We also had an American couple, who are now living in Santa Lucia with their four kids, come to our meeting.  We had met them on door to door ministry and had extended them an invitation also.  They profess salvation but I think that they are charismatic, so it will be interesting if they keep coming.  As yet they don’t speak Spanish but he teaches in one of the American schools in Tegucigalpa.  Pray for this contact also.

Special Blessings:

God has truly showered us with the blessing of leading three souls to the savior since our last up date.  Two were through a disciple bible study that Carmen and I have been holding in the home of a lady that we lead to the Lord some months ago.  Her husband and mother in law professed salvation and the whole family attend the Methodist church in the town but as we studied I asked both if they were to die where would they go.  Both looked at me with blank faces and responded “Hell”  What a joy to share the Gospel with them and lead them to the Master.

The other came through our pastoral visitation of a sick member.  Her son has been attending a Pentecostal church for several years and professed salvation.  As we shared the news of the two previous salvations with his mother I noticed he was all ears. I began then to talk about the blessing that we have as saved souls to know that if we were to die we would be with our Lord.  I then asked him where he would go, to which he replied he did not know!  How sad to have been attending a church for so long and not to have the knowledge of eternal salvation.  We shared the gospel with him and then asked if he would like to ask Christ to save his soul and give him the assurance of salvation.  He said he would and after praying with us he smiled and said, “Now I know where I will go when I die”.  Pray for all these souls that as we disciple them for Christ we might lead them to obey their Lord in biblical Baptism.

I trust that this report encourages you all to pray for the ministry that God has made you part of through your support.  Pray too that He might have the increase in this ministry and that many more precious souls might come to know the Savior.

Yours in Him.

Here is an update from our good friends, Eric & Stephanie Chapman, missionaries to Moldova. After the update are videos of their ministry you may watch.

Dear Friends,

We have been back in Moldova for less than a week, and we have been very busy with the work here. I hope everyone had a nice Easter. During our Easter time we were working with two Moldovan church plants helping a national, Victor Pascaru, who is working in a hard to reach area. The orthodox church is fighting against the work there; the people were afraid to come out to the meetings. In one place the elders of the village said that the first adult to make a public profession would be hung. This is very serious stuff and it requires lots of prayer. Please pray for Victor and his family as they continue to work in this hard area of southern Moldova.
Next week I will be sending a general prayer letter, both email and hard copy. However, I wanted to let everyone know that we have posted our videos of Africa onto our website. One video is an overview of all the work we did on this trip, and the second is specifically about the orphans being feed in the church cantinas. The videos are on the “What’s New” page of the website or you can hit the links below.

NEEMA BAPTIST CHURCH- MASIMBA

We are about to embark on a 5 hour trip with 30 members of the Grace Bible Baptist Church to the town of Masimba. Over the next couple of days we will be saturating the community with the gospel in preparation for the beginning of a new church that will hold its first service on Sunday. Along with witnessing door to door we will also be doing some outdoor preaching and showing an evangelistic film.

As has always been our practice, we endeavor to follow the biblical example of churches starting churches. This new church will be pastored by one of our Bible College graduates and members of our church, brother Matthew Mogire. Brother Matthew is from this area and has a great burden to see this region reached with the gospel.

The predominate church in this area is the Seventh Day Adventist Cult. We know that there will be much opposition to the gospel and to this new church but we are assured from the Bible that we are going with Jesus authority.

It is exciting and a privilege to be serving here in Kenya with a group of people who desire to see churches start and the gospel go forward both here in Kenya and in the Regions Beyond.

On Tuesday, April 19, 2011, several people from Grace Baptist Church (ranging in age from 9 – 83) went to Afton, Virginia to help in the church plant of Bethel Baptist Church. Below is a slideshow of some of the pictures. I hope to have more coming.

Greetings! Just a quick update today. Our weekend was good. We started off with a celebration of Melissa’s birthday. Nothing large or elaborate, but rather some good family time together. Hopefully she enjoyed her special weekend! (I think she did). I also wanted to give you some photos of the “teen” service this past weekend. *Almost* everything (except song leading) was done by the teens. This is the second teen-led service, and they are doing a great job. We have one planned every 3 months, so they will continue to gain experience and have opportunities to serve in this way. Otherwise, all is relatively quiet here. Braden is still looking for a summer job (hoping maybe he can get one of those 50,000 McDonald’s jobs today). Weather hasn’t changed for 4 months hot and dry. 102 today and has only rained once so far this year. Ugh. But, it could be worse! Looking forward to Resurrection services this coming Sunday. Not much else to share, so have a wonderful day!

Our Church Anniversary services went well. Our family seems to be doing much better, sickness is gone! Praise the Lord. I have updated our web page with a new web album. You can see it here: www.rices2peru.com/gallery enjoy the pictures.

Also keep Bro. Humberto Gómez in your prayers for his health. He is the revisor of the Spanish Bible that we use. About a week ago he suffered from a stroke. He seems to be doing well and is recovering, but needs your prayers.

Dear Supporting Pastors;

We have several things we wanted to share with you in this up date, which we trust will give you reason to praise the Lord with us for His care.

Synopsis:

1).  Our application for legal registration has been received.  2).  God blesses us once more with another Gift towards our property Project and We plan to meet once more with the owner to seek a final deal.  3).  A Young girl comes to Christ.  4).  Five souls take the step of obedience in Baptism.

Church Matters:

What a joy it is to be able to inform you that the authorities have received our application for independent legal registration as a religious entity. You may remember that the new law, passed recently by the President, was requiring all new churches to join the Conflaternidad Evangélica in order to be registered legally in the country.  We had heard that he had backed down on that and so had made our request under the old law.  The receptionist refused to receive our papers stating that we had to comply with the new law and register with the Conflaternidad first.  We pull back and took time to pray over this while we made inquiries.  A believer, who has just recently started to attend our church, asked me what the problem was and when I told him he put me in touch with a friend of his, a believer who works in the legal office where we had tried to register.  After meeting with this dear brother in the Lord he told us that the receptionist did not know what he was taking about and that while the President had tried to pass this new law it had been refereed to the Supreme Court and had not yet come into effect but that we needed to move if we wanted independent registration.  He then saw to it that our application was properly received and is now in process.  He assured us that even if the President gets his law through it does not have effect on any application that has received.

Praise God with us for this answer to our prayers but also pray that the Supreme Court will overturn this law as effectively it will form a State Evangelical Church, headed up by individuals who are not happy with Independents. Pray also for the future of Independent Church plants should this law be passed.

Property Project:

This news of our registration means that we will shortly be able to buy property in our own name and as such has encouraged our Church Family in their giving to this fund.  God has also moved in the hearts of others.  Recently e received further gifts from supporting churches in Europe totaling €6,000.00 / $8500.00.  How we praise God for all of this and thank all those concerned.

Now that our registration has been submitted we have asked the owner of the property to meet with representatives from our church to talk over with him his last offer, where he said that he might be willing to consider with us a payment plan whereby the Church could pay him for the property with periodical installments.  Pray with us that he might be willing to consider one that would help us reach our goal without even having to approach a bank for a mortgage.  Based upon this meeting we will then be taking a recommendation back to our church family for their final direction, as the guy is now pushing for a definite response.  Pray that God would overrule in all of this.

Children’s Ministry:

We once again rejoice that God has saved yet another child for His glory.  She had been in our children’s meeting where she had heard the Gospel and while she did not come out for the Lord then she went home and thought about her relationship with Christ, eventually going to her mum and dad, members of our church, to seek the saviour.  What a joy to see God’s hand of blessing once more.

Baptisms:

What a joy we had, Sunday week ago, to Biblically Baptize five souls who wanted to give public testimony to their Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Pray with us that these new members in our church that they might grow in Grace and in their understanding of God’s word.

Well as you can see God continues to show His hand of blessing upon this ministry.  We rejoice in what He is doing in and through us and remember that it has all been possible because of your faithful support and prayers, which, through His Grace, keeps us here.  May God bless our partnership for the Gospel in this place.  God bless.

Yours in Him.

We had a good trip to the zoo on Monday. I’ve been a little slow getting the photos out, but here they are! On Sunday we had a new family visit with us. It was a husband/wife and their 6 year old son. They came with us to the zoo on Monday and then the wife/son came back to church on Wednesday. In speaking with him it seems they may be leaving soon due to his job (for about 8 months), but we look forward to being able to work with them until that time. In other news, we received the lettering for the sign at the road. I finished framing the vinyl today and everything is now painted. It’s got a few more wrinkles than I’d like, but it should still work fine, as long as I’m careful when I attach the lettering. I’m hoping to get all of that done before Sunday. Nothing else to share. Have a great day!
