Lord willing, this coming Lord’s Day, I will be preaching on the Altar of Thanksgiving and the Promises of God. It is interesting that our study in the first 11 chapters of Genesis has brought us to this place on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The Lord’s timing is impeccable, isn’t it?
Below is a song by Bob Puffer, a singer we know from New York state:
This past year we have seen some good people go on to be with the Lord, and others in our church have suffered real problems, setbacks and burdens. I hope this song will lift your spirits in the Lord! - Pastor

Their chains were fastened tight
Down at the jail that night
Still Paul and Silas would not be dismayed
They said, “It’s time to lift our voice, sing praises to the Lord
Let’s prove that we will trust Him come what may”
God wants to hear you sing
When the waves are crashing ’round you
When the fiery darts surround you
And despair is all you see
God wants to hear your voice
When the wisest man has spoken
And says, “Your circumstance is as hopeless as can be”
That’s when God wants to hear you sing
He loves to hear our praise
On our cheerful days
When the pleasant times outweigh the bad, by far
But when suffering comes along
And we still sing Him songs
That is when we bless the Father’s heart
One of the groups my family and I saw in the concert in North Carolina was Legacy Five. Here ias a video of them singing “Praise Him Medley” a Capella. It really was a lot of fun.
Have you ever thought that your work for the Lord just isn’t enough? Perhaps you teach a Sunday School class of young kids, and you wonder if your work has any eternal value. It may be that you don’t feel like you have seen any “results” or “harvest” in the work.
This song was written by Rodney Griffin of the Southern Gospel group, Greater Vision. I hope these words he wrote are an encouragement to you. As another song states “Little is much when God is in it.”
FACES
I DREAMED MY LIFE WAS DONE. I STOOD BEFORE GOD’S SON.
IT WAS TIME TO SEE WHAT MY REWARD WOULD BE
WITH LOVE HE REVIEWED MY LIFE TO COUNT WHAT WAS DONE FOR CHRIST.
FOR THAT IS WHAT WILL LAST ETERNALLY
SEE I’D DONE MY BEST TO SHARE THAT JESUS REALLY CARES
AND HE WOULD SAVE IF THEY JUST BELIEVE
OH, BUT SELDOM DID HARVEST COME AND SO FEW DID I SEE WON
UNTIL THE LORD SAID, “TURN AROUND AND SEE.”
CHORUS:
THEN HE SHOWED ME THE FACES OF THE ONES WHO’D COME BECAUSE OF ME.
SO MANY FACES THAT MY LIFE HAD LED TO CALVARY
ALL THOSE YEARS I THOUGHT NOBODY SAW AS I LABORED IN LOWLY PLACES
THAT’S WHEN JESUS SMILED AND SHOWED ME ALL THE FACES.
HE SAID THOUGH YOU DID NOT SEE THE YIELD, YOU WERE FAITHFUL TO PLOW THE FIELD
AT OTHER TIMES YOU HELPED ME PLANT THE SEED
NO MATTER HOW SMALL THE TASK, YOU DID JUST AS I ASKED
AND THANKS TO YOU THESE SOULS HAVE BEEN SET FREE.
I appreciate every Sunday School teacher, every Children’s Church teacher and worker, and everyone who has the privilege of watching over infants in our nursery. Only God knows the impact you are having on their lives!
